【9/15 Dollar-Yen Scalp Points】
Good work, everyone! Now let's do dollar-yen scalping again tonight!
First, an overview of the Tokyo session for today.
Currently the dollar-yen is around 154.70. This morning the dollar-yen started around 154.30, but during the Tokyo session, after last night’s decline in the New York session, it shifted back to a dollar-buying trend, and after 14:00 Japan time it rose to around 154.90 (today's Tokyo high).
I think the buying is due to expectations of a rate hike cycle from tomorrow's FOMC policy announcement and the postponement of the Iran-Gulf countries talks over the Hormuz Strait, but near the 155 level there is initially selling.
It seems many longs are trapped at this level…
Dollar-yen is likely to transition to overseas time after roughly a 40-pip rise from the morning level. This today also has fairly volatile movement, which is fine.
Now, here are tonight's dollar-yen scalping points (my personal notes).
● Around 16:00 London market open movements
● Movements after the 21:30 “U.S. NY Fed Manufacturing Index” release
● Movements near the 22:00 New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)

・Be cautious of headlines related to the Hormuz Strait

Tonight’s “1-minute scalp” will likely target movements around market opens and the post-21:30 release of the U.S. NY Fed Manufacturing Index. For users of the “1-minute scalp club,” handling according to theory should pose no problem.
Also, if you’re aiming for shorts with the “15-minute scalp strategy,” think of selling when the level is around 154.60–70 or lower, and then chase downward. Dollar-yen often behaves similarly to the previous day.
With that, overseas time will start shortly!
Because scalping targets a small profit per trade, it may seem like there are 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By targeting times with sufficient volatility, you can drastically reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time windows I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open times (16:00 in US daylight time / 17:00 in US standard time)
・New York market open times (22:00 in US daylight time / 23:00 in US standard time)
Even immediately after U.S. data releases, volatility increases and opportunities arise. However, in the first few minutes after a release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to enter only after spreads return to normal.
Always check the U.S. indicators and event schedule in advance. Knowing the time windows when opportunities will come allows you to accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, never position just before the U.S. indicators/events release. If price moves against you, it can be hard to recover. Careless mistakes are unacceptable, absolutely.
U.S. indicators and event schedules can be checked on the websites of each brokerage or FX broker.
Of course there are other points besides the three above, but I’ve shared the essential points you should keep in mind when scalping the dollar-yen.
