【9/7 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Good work everyone! Alright, let's go with USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, the Tokyo time overview for today.
Currently USD/JPY is around the 155.70 level. This morning the pair started around 156.00, but during Tokyo time there were moments when it retraced to around 156.25 (today's Tokyo high). European and London traders sold again, pushing it back into the 155 range.
With the Bank of Japan likely to raise rates in September, there is some uncertainty on U.S. rate hikes, so there seems to be caution about a reversal of the yen carry trade.
Now, for us scalpers, USD/JPY volatility is rising in a good way! Will it try to break through the key level of 155? If it gets broken, I think volatility will rise even more—could be a game changer.
USD/JPY is likely to surrender about 30 pips from the morning level as we move into overseas trading hours.
Now, here are tonight's USD/JPY scalping points (my personal notes).
● Movement around 16:00 near the London market open
● Movement around 22:00 near the New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)
—– Other notes ..
・No major U.S. indicators or events today
・Be cautious of headlines related to Middle East tensions

Tonight's "1-minute chart scalping strategy" doesn’t have highly anticipated U.S. indicators or events, so I expect to trade around the market opens. For users of the "1-minute scalping club," following the standard approach should be fine. There are no major catalysts, but sentiment around a reversal of the yen carry trade is keeping volatility up. Stay calm but earnest!
Also, if you're aiming for shorts with the "15-minute scalping strategy," wait for a bit of a pullback to around 156.00–156.10 to be able to sell.
Now, overseas trading is about to start!
Scalping tends to be thought of as having small target widths and endless 24-hour opportunities, but that isn’t the case. Trading can become much easier by aiming at periods with relatively high volatility.
The time I target is around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open hours (16:00 in US daylight time / 17:00 in US standard time)
・New York market open hours (22:00 in US daylight time / 23:00 in US standard time)
Volatility spikes and more chances occur right after U.S. indicators or events are announced. However, in the first several minutes after the release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to enter only after spreads have returned to normal.
Please always check the U.S. indicator and event schedule beforehand. Knowing when chances will come helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning right before U.S. indicators or events release. If you go against them, you’ll be blown out in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely not.
You can check U.S. indicator and event schedules on the websites of each brokerage or FX provider.
Of course, there are many other points beyond the three above, but I’ve explained the minimum points to keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
