【9/4 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Good job everyone! Now, let’s do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, from today’s Tokyo time overview.
Currently USD/JPY is around 156.35. This morning USD/JPY started around 155.80, but during Tokyo time the sharp drop from last night has subsided and it has been edging back a bit.
For us scalpers, USD/JPY volatility has risen nicely, hasn’t it?
Now, tonight is the “U.S. Non-Farm Payrolls.” It wasn’t very noticeable due to volatile moves, but a dove-like statement from Fed Governor Waller has reduced the probability of a September rate hike to 50%. Depending on the outcome of the “U.S. Non-Farm Payrolls,” it may move again.
Let’s go in with hot enthusiasm again tonight!
USD/JPY is likely to move about 55 pips higher from the morning level as we hand off to overseas trading hours.
Now, here are tonight’s USD/JPY scalping points (my personal notes).
● Movements around around 16:00 London market open
● Movements after the 21:30 “U.S. Non-Farm Payrolls” release
● Movements near the 22:00 New York Open (Dow opens at 22:30)

Other notes..
・Be mindful of headlines related to FX intervention
・Be mindful of headlines related to Middle East tensions

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will target moves near market openings and after the 21:30 “U.S. Non-Farm Payrolls” release. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” handling according to theory should be fine. Tonight’s NFP offers a major hint for a potential September rate hike in the U.S.
Also, if you’re aiming for short positions with the “15-minute chart scalping strategy,” wait for a slight pullback and look to sell around 156.80–156.90.
We’ll be starting overseas time soon!
Because scalping targets small profit margins, it’s easy to think there are 24-hour chances. That’s not the case. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time I aim for is around the London market open and around the New York market open.
• London market open time (16:00 during U.S. summer time / 17:00 during U.S. winter time)
• New York market open time (22:00 during U.S. summer time / 23:00 during U.S. winter time)
Announcements of U.S. indicators/events are still highly volatile with many chances immediately after. However, in the minutes right after the release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to act only after the spread returns to normal.
Please always check the U.S. indicator/event schedule in advance. Knowing when chances will come helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positions right before U.S. indicators/events. If you go against it, you’ll be doomed. You can be taken to the stop-loss line in an instant. Carelessness is not allowed, absolutely not.
U.S. indicator/event schedules can be checked on the websites of each securities/FX broker.
Of course there are many other points besides the three above, but I’ve talked about the minimum points you should keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
