【9/1 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Great work today! Alright, let's do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, here is today’s Tokyo session overview.
Currently USD/JPY is around 159.95. This morning it started around 159.75, but during Tokyo time it remained choppy with a slight upward tendency.
Today's Tokyo low was around 159.65, reached a little after 11:00 Japan time.
Yesterday, dollar was sold due to month-end rebalancing, but expectations for a September rate hike by the U.S. remain solid (about 60% priced in), and since there was no intervention even after reaching 160, the market is likely to inch toward the 160s again. I would be happy if it breaks through 160 and volatility emerges.
The USD/JPY is likely to rise about 20 pips from the morning level as it hands over to the overseas session.
Now, here are tonight’s USD/JPY scalping points (my memo).
● Movements around the London market open around 16:00
● Movements around the New York market open around 22:00 (Dow opens at 22:30)
● Movements after the release of the US ISM Manufacturing PMI and US JOLTS Job Openings at 23:00

Other notes…
・15:00 there is the European CPI release
・22:05 there is a statement by a Federal Reserve official
・Be mindful of headlines related to Middle East developments

Tonight’s “1-minute scalp” targets movements near market opens and the 23:00 release of the US ISM Manufacturing PMI and US JOLTS Job Openings. For users of the “1-minute scalp club,” handle it according to the theory without issue.
Also, for the “15-minute scalping strategy,” the shorts are not favorable since expectations for a September US rate hike remain strong and the dollar is in an uptrend. Tonight I’d like to focus on the conservative “1-minute scalp.”
Now we’ll soon begin in overseas time!
Because scalping aims for small profit margins, it’s often assumed there are 24-hour opportunities, but that isn’t the case. By targeting times with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The times I target are near the London market open and near the New York market open.
・London market open time (16:00 during US daylight time / 17:00 during US standard time)
・New York market open time (22:00 during US daylight time / 23:00 during US standard time)
After US data releases and events, volatility rises and there are many chances. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads may widen, so it's essential to trade after the spread returns to normal.
Please always check the US data and events schedule in advance. Knowing the times when opportunities arise helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, avoid positioning immediately before US data/events. If you move against it, you can’t do anything. A quick stop-out will happen. Carelessness is not allowed, absolutely.
US data/event schedules can be checked on the websites of each securities firm and FX broker.
Of course, there are many other points beyond these three, but I’ve talked about the minimal points you should keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
