【8/27 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Now, let's do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, the overview of Tokyo time today.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 159.35. This morning, USD/JPY started around 159.25, but in Tokyo time it fell ahead of remarks by Bank of Japan Vice Governor Himeno, and after 9:30 JST it dropped to around 159.10 (today’s Tokyo low).
However, since it did not break lower and because there was no clear message from Vice Governor Himeno about a rate hike in September, it has again tilted slightly toward the weaker yen.
USD/JPY is likely to hand off to the overseas session near the morning level.
Regarding the BOJ rate hike, market attention shifts to Mr. Tamura at Jackson Hole, but since the market has already priced in about a 90% chance of a September rate hike, even a clear message may not move it much. It would be different if there were a dovish stance.
Now, here are tonight’s USD/JPY scalping points (my notes).
● Movements near the London market open around 16:00
● Movements after the U.S. initial jobless claims release at 21:30
● Movements near the New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)

Other notes…
・Be mindful of headlines related to currency intervention
・Be mindful of headlines related to Middle East developments

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping strategy” will focus on movements around market opens and movements after the 21:30 U.S. initial jobless claims release. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” following the theory should be fine.
Also, if you are aiming for a short using the “15-minute scalping strategy,” wait for a bit of a pullback and be ready to sell at around the 159.30-159.40 level.
With that, overseas time is about to commence!
Scalping tends to be thought of as having small profit margins and endless 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time I target is around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open times (During U.S. daylight time 16:00 / During U.S. standard time 17:00)
・New York market open times (During U.S. daylight time 22:00 / During U.S. standard time 23:00)
News and event releases in the U.S. tend to bring high volatility and many opportunities. However, in the moments immediately after the release, spreads can widen, so it is crucial to enter only after they return to normal spreads.
Always check the U.S. indicators and events schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities may come allows you to accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning immediately before U.S. indicator/event releases. If you go against it, you’ll be hit hard. Careless mistakes are unacceptable, absolutely.
U.S. indicators and events schedules can be checked on the websites of brokerages and FX providers.
Of course, there are many other points aside from the three above, but I’ve shared the key points you should at least remember when scalping USD/JPY.

Actually… one of my trading methods, the “15-minute chart scalping,” is completely freely published. I hope it will be of some help (completely free!).
