【8/25 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Good work today! Now, let’s do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, the Tokyo time overview for today.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 159.30. This morning it started around 159.05, but during Tokyo time, the buying of the dollar and selling of the yen leaned slightly in favor of the yen in the morning.
Last night, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen announced economic sanctions against Iran, but the impact on the forex market was limited and felt a bit disappointing. Also, there was a report from the U.S. Treasury about expanding long-term bond purchases by about $1 trillion, which briefly drove the yen higher, but selling did not follow...
From a scalping perspective, it doesn’t matter which way it moves, but the yen’s weakening trend shows no signs of stopping.
USD/JPY is likely to rise about 25 pips from the morning level as it transitions to overseas trading hours. Tonight, after this, the European/London participants may try higher levels.
Now, the USD/JPY scalping points for tonight.
● Movement around 16:00 when the London market opens
● Movement around 22:00 when the New York market opens (Dow opens at 22:30)
● Movement after the release of the “U.S. Consumer Confidence Index” at 23:00

Other notes..
・Be mindful of headlines related to currency intervention
・Be mindful of headlines related to Middle East developments

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will focus on movements around market opens plus the post-23:00 release of the U.S. Consumer Confidence Index. For users of the “1-minute chart scalping club,” following the theory should be fine.
Also, for the short-only “15-minute chart scalping,” even with reports of expanded long-term bond purchases from the U.S. Treasury, the yen’s weakness trend remains, so there’s no need to force positions. Tonight I plan to focus securely on “1-minute scalping.”
Now, the overseas session is about to start!
Scalping tends to seem like there are 24-hour opportunities because the profit per trade is small, but that’s not the case. Targeting times with relatively higher volatility can dramatically reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time periods I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (UTC: 16:00 during U.S. daylight time / 17:00 during U.S. standard time)
・New York market open time (UTC: 22:00 during U.S. daylight time / 23:00 during U.S. standard time)
Even immediately after U.S. indicators or events, volatility increases and more opportunities arise. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads can widen, so it’s essential to wait until they return to normal before engaging.
Please check the U.S. indicators and event schedules in advance. Knowing the times when opportunities will come helps you grow profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning just before the release of U.S. indicators or events. If you go against it, you’ll be wiped out in an instant. Carelessness is not acceptable, absolutely not.
U.S. indicators and events schedules can be checked on each brokerage or FX firm’s website.
Of course, there are many other points besides these three, but I’ve outlined the minimum points you should know when scalping USD/JPY.
