is.
Good morning to everyone.
This morning's USD/JPY started quietly with little movement.
USD/JPY hourly chart
The left edge shows late July when there was a US-J Japan coordinated intervention.
It fell about 8 yen and retraced 4 yen to 50%, and is now right in the middle.
If there is another intervention, that would be interesting, but if it continues as before, will it return to the previous pattern?
That is something not knowable until later, so thinking about it now is pointless and a waste of time.
However, recently the price range has been about 1 yen every day, so I think it is easier to profit than before.
I think it is prudent to target such scenarios.
In terms of time, it would be before the Tokyo morning session, from the start of the London stock market until around 7 p.m., and from the NY stock market start until the London FIX at midnight.
For most readers who are part-time, FX and options would be standby after coming home, around after 8 p.m.
What to check then is the recent highs and lows and the intraday highs and lows up to that point.
And among those highs and lows, where is "now".
Generally they tend to aim for that price, so watch closely.
And when they reach it, what kind of action should be taken.
What means? What methods?
That is what happens.
In forecasting what will happen, it is quite important to decide in advance two or three moves you will make at that time.
For billions-traders, will you sell or buy when you reach it and turn around?
If you reverse, where will you do so?
For unusual hedge users, take a position after reaching it.
So it would be good to predefine your actions.
As you can see, it is in a range now.
First, how will you handle the roughly 90-pips wide blue zone?
Will it break upward or break downward, and will it return inside after reaching?
These are the three patterns, so you should decide at least three possible actions.
In the past, many times it retraced fully to the levels after the late July drop.
Whether it will happen again this time is unknown, but recently USD/JPY has not moved on economic indicators.
It seems the range and volatility are affected by interest rates, the Fed, and BOJ movements.
Until then, it seems to be jittering within the range as a kind of warm-up.
In any case, it probably won't stay in this range forever, so it will move in one direction or the other.
First, if it breaks upward, compare the pullback after the breakout; if it breaks downward, compare the retracement after the breakout and think about it.
Thank you for your continued support this week as well.
