【8/21 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Good job everyone! Alright, let's go with USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, summary of Tokyo time today.
Currently USD/JPY is around 158.95. This morning it started around 159.05, but during Tokyo time it moved without a clear direction around the 159 level.
Recently, U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen announced an expansion of the ceiling for long-term government bond purchases, causing a temporary dollar selloff, but the yen was weak as well, and it eventually returned to pre-announcement levels.
Also, President Trump reportedly plans to take the “most devastating” economic measures against Iran, making prolonged conflict unavoidable, which is also a dollar-buy factor. By the way, on the 24th, Treasury Secretary Yellen will hold a press conference on “devastating sanctions” against Iran.
USD/JPY is likely to carry over to the overseas session near the morning level.
Now, the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Moves around the London market open (around 16:00 UK time)
● Moves around the New York market open (NYSE opens at 22:30)
● Moves after the release of the U.S. Manufacturing PMI/Services PMI at 22:45

Other notes…
・Be cautious of headlines related to U.S.-Japan coordinated interventions
・Be cautious of headlines related to Middle East tensions

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will focus on moves around market opens plus the moves after the 22:45 PMI releases. For users of the “1-minute Scalping Club,” handling according to the theory should be fine.
Also, the short-only “15-minute chart scalping” is prone to safe dollar buying amid fears of prolonged U.S.-Iran conflict, so it’s not advisable to aggressively position. Tonight I’d like to focus on the solid approach of “1-minute scalping.”
Now, overseas time is about to begin!
Scalping tends to be thought of as having small profit targets and 24-hour opportunities, but that is not the case. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the trading difficulty.
The time windows I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (UTC夏時間 16:00 / UTC冬時間 17:00)
・New York market open time (UTC夏時間 22:00 / UTC冬時間 23:00)
After U.S. indicators/events are released, volatility often rises and opportunities increase. However, in the few minutes right after the release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to enter only after the spread returns to normal.
Please check U.S. indicators/events schedules in advance. Knowing when opportunities may arise helps you build profits more efficiently.
Also, avoid positioning immediately before U.S. indicators/events releases. If you go against the trend, it can be devastating. Never make careless mistakes; absolute rule.
U.S. indicators/events schedules can be checked on the websites of each broker or FX provider.
Of course, there are many other points besides the three mentioned above, but I’ve explained the essential points to keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
