【8/13 Dollar/Yen Scalping Points】
Good work, everyone! Let’s do dollar-yen scalping again tonight!
First, the Tokyo-time overview for today.
Currently, the dollar-yen is around 159.40. This morning it started around 159.45, but during the Tokyo session it moved little in the high range from the end of last night’s New York session.
Dollar-yen is likely to hand over to overseas time at roughly the same morning level.
After last night’s drop following the US CPI, the pullback was bought and it fully recovered, with no sign of a strong yen. Well, for scalping, it’s fine as long as there is volatility in either direction.
However, as we are near the 160 yen level where further intervention is expected, spikes (pseudo-interventions) are likely. I think small spike moves that don’t reach a full 1 yen drop can be picked up long in pieces. If moves exceed 1 yen, it’s prudent to consider the possibility of further intervention.
Tonight we also have the US PPI after last night’s CPI. We can look forward to the moves after the releases.
Now, the points for tonight’s dollar-yen scalping.
● Movements near the London market open around 16:00 (summer time) / 17:00 (winter time)
● Movements after the US initial jobless claims and US Producer Price Index release at 21:30
● Movements near the New York market open around 22:00 (Dow opens at 22:30)

Other notes…
・There may be important speeches during trading (21:15: US Hamack – remarks by the president of the Cleveland Federal Reserve)
・Be careful of headlines related to US-Japan cooperation intervention
・Be careful of headlines related to Middle East tensions

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will target moves around market opens plus after the 21:30 US jobless claims and US Producer Price Index releases. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” as long as you follow the theory, there should be no problem. Also, a potential bite of intervention during the Obon season is possible.
Also, the short-only “15-minute scalping” is not showing a yen-firming market at all, so there’s no need to force positions. Tonight I’d like to focus reliably on “1-minute scalping.”
Now, we’re about to start overseas time!
Because scalping aims for small profit margins, it’s easy to think there are 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. Targeting periods with relatively high volatility can drastically reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time periods I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (UTC-4: 16:00 in US daylight time / UTC-5: 17:00 in US standard time)
・New York market open time (UTC-4: 22:00 in US daylight time / UTC-5: 23:00 in US standard time)
News releases and events from US indicators still bring high volatility and more chances. However, in the minutes right after the release, spreads can widen, so always re-enter after they return to normal spreads.
Check the US indicators and events schedule in advance on broker or FX firm websites. Knowing when chances will come helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, positioning immediately before US indicators/events should be avoided at all costs. If you go against the trend, you’ll be taken to the stop-out in an instant. Careless mistakes are unacceptable, absolutely.
US indicators and events schedules can be checked on each broker’s or FX firm’s website.
Of course there are other points as well, but I’ve explained the minimum points you should keep in mind when scalping the dollar-yen.

Actually, one of my trading methods, “15-minute scalp scalping,” is completely freely available. I hope it can be of some help (totally free).
