[8/12 Dollar-Yen Scalp Points]
Good job everyone! Alright, let's continue with dollar-yen scalping tonight as well!
First, here is today's Tokyo session overview.
Currently, the dollar-yen is around 159.35. This morning it started around 159.30, but during Tokyo time the buying of dollars and selling of yen was slightly dominant, pushing it to the mid-159s. However, with the US CPI release tonight, the movement was limited.
Depending on tonight’s US CPI results, it is possible for it to break into the 160s, but this level also serves as a threshold where expectations for government and BOJ intervention become stronger. By the way, if it falls, there will likely be gradual buying on dips.
Dollar-yen seems likely to hand over to overseas hours at roughly the same level as in the morning.
Now, the points for tonight’s dollar-yen scalping.
• Movements around the London market open at 16:00
• Movements around the New York market open at 22:00 (Dow opens at 22:30)
• Movements after the US Consumer Price Index release at 23:00

Other notes …
・Be careful of headlines related to Japan-US coordinated intervention
・Be careful of headlines related to Middle East tensions

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will focus on moves around market opens plus the moves after the 23:00 US CPI release. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” following the theory should be fine. Also, will there be follow-up intervention after the US CPI…?
Also, the “15-minute chart scalping” for short-only positions continues to be cautious about intervention, but fundamentally the trend is dollar-buying and yen-selling, so there’s no need to force positions. Tonight I’d like to focus steadily on “1-minute scalping.”
With that, overseas market hours are about to start!
Scalping often seems like there are constant 24-hour opportunities because the profit targets are small, but that’s not the case. By aiming for times with higher volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The timeframes I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
• London market open time (15:00-16:00 local, depending on US daylight saving time)
• New York market open time (22:00-23:00 local, depending on US daylight saving time)
Even immediately after US indicators or events are announced, volatility increases and there are many opportunities. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads may widen, so the rule is to enter only after they return to normal spreads.
Always check the US indicators and event schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities are likely to arise helps you build profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning immediately before US indicators or events release. If you go against it, you’re in for trouble. You can be taken to the stop-loss level in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely not.
US indicators and event schedules can be checked on the websites of each brokerage and FX broker.
Of course, there are other points besides these three, but I’ve discussed the essential points you should cover when scalping the dollar-yen.
