Even though it is nonfiction, its content is incredibly dramatic, and moreover practical.
『The Complete Tale of the Turtles』 has been read, and we received a review from Mr. Fujimura.
〜From here〜
"I was able to finish reading 'The Complete Tale of the Legendary Traders: the Turtles' in about ten days. This is my second set of reflections.
The Turtles, who have now become a legend among trader groups. How were they born? The Turtle candidates, whose education, qualifications, and ages were all over the place, are selected, and they trade while adhering to established rules.
The two who raised and trained the 'Turtles' were Richard Dennis and his childhood friend and partner William Eckhardt. After more than ten years of debate, they decided to implement the Turtle program.
Richard Dennis, the legendary trader who turned $400 into $20 million. William Eckhardt, a mathematics specialist. Their teaching methods and techniques have been protected by confidentiality agreements until now.
However, about 20 years since the birth of the Turtles, the turtles, who had remained silent, reveal their secrets in this book.
I knew the name 'the Turtles' and even before this book, I had purchased one of the Turtle’s Curtis Faith’s books, 'The Turtle Trading' (The Turtle Trader).
The first half details the birth and growth of the Turtles as described above. Even just the first half yields many insights.
However, I feel the value of this book lies in the latter half. It records the qualities truly required of a speculator and reveals all sorts of shocking facts.
In my case, I may have previously read 'The Turtle Trading' or 'The Art of the Market', but my view of Curtis Faith, the author of 'The Art of Turtle Investing', has changed greatly, and after finishing this book I felt compelled to reread 'The Art of the Market'.
The stories of Jerry Parker and Salem Abraham, two Turtles in the latter half, were truly fascinating. These two are indispensable when talking about the Turtles.
Though it is nonfiction, the content is incredibly dramatic and also practical.
In a previous post I stated that this book is a reprint. It is a reprint of 'The Turtle: Investors' Academy'. Even for those who have already read that book, the new postscript in this book is worth another read.
I read it for the first time, and even the afterword offered many insights.
There are many things that people understand intellectually but cannot truly grasp; reading this book helped me to internalize many aspects of investing.
If you read many how-to books and FX magazines, reading this book multiple times will surely yield valuable realizations.
I recommend this book alongside 'The Market Wizards' and 'Day Trading' (by Oliver Veles, Grey Kapla) as a useful investment resource.
〜End〜
By the way, like Mr. Fujimura, I was slightly shocked by the portrayal of Curtis Faith, and after finishing this book I found myself picking up 'The Market Wizards' again with a wry smile.
From now on, I will strive to publish books not based on whether they will sell, but from the investor's perspective that they are good.
