【8/6 Dollar-Yen Scalp Points】
Good work today! Now let's go with dollar-yen scalp tonight as well.
First, the Tokyo session overview for today.
Currently the dollar-yen is around 157.80. This morning it started around 157.70, but during the Tokyo session it moved with a small range of about 20 pips. Fundamentally yen depreciation is the trend, but it is being capped by coordinated action between Japan and the United States.
Also, with tomorrow’s U.S. employment data looming, it seems there is little room to move. The dollar-yen is likely to hand off to the overseas session at roughly the morning level.
From watching the dollar-yen movements, it seems 158 yen is being heavily watched. Today as well, the focus is on when the follow-up intervention will occur, so I’d like to ride that movement if possible. I’ll monitor a bit longer with effort.
Now, here are the points for tonight’s dollar-yen scalping.
● Movements around 16:00 London market open
● Movements after the release of the US Initial Jobless Claims at 21:30
● Movements around the New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)

Other notes ..
・Be careful of headlines related to U.S.-Japan coordinated intervention
・Be careful of headlines related to Middle East tensions

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will target movements around each market opening plus the 21:30 release of the US Initial Jobless Claims. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” handling it according to theory should be fine. Also, I definitely want to ride the follow-up intervention movement ..
Additionally, the short-dedicated “15-minute scalping” is becoming heavier on the upside due to the potential for follow-up interventions, so it’s worth aiming for. The entry point would be after a small pullback, selling at levels above the mid-157s. It feels like 158 yen is being strongly watched.
Now the overseas session will start soon!
Because scalping profits are small, it is a common misconception that there are 24-hour opportunities. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time frames I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (UTC-4 in summer / UTC+1 in winter)
・New York market open time (UTC-4 in summer / UTC-5 in winter)
After the release of U.S. indicators and events, volatility increases and opportunities arise. However, in the few minutes right after the release, spreads can widen, so the principle is to enter after the spreads return to normal levels.
Always check the U.S. indicators and events schedule in advance with your broker’s website. Knowing when opportunities will come helps you stack profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning right before U.S. indicators/events. If you move against them, losses can be severe in an instant. Careless mistakes are unacceptable, absolutely.
The U.S. indicators/events schedule can be checked on each brokerage/FX provider’s website.
Of course there are points other than the three above, but I’ve talked about the minimum points you should keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
