【8/4 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Good work everyone! Let’s keep up with USD/JPY scalping tonight as well!
First, here is today's Tokyo session overview.
Currently USD/JPY is around 157.60. This morning it started around 157.15, but in the Tokyo session it showed a tendency toward slight dollar buying and yen selling.
From the low of 155.20 reached during the US–Japan coordinated intervention, we have already rebounded by more than 2 yen, so continued follow-up intervention remains in focus. Since the US is involved, it’s hard to see it simply returning to that level without anything happening.
The follow-up intervention is unlikely to be very large, so I think the pace will be manageable. It’s a move I’d like to ride.
USD/JPY is likely to move about 45 pips higher from the morning levels as it transitions to the overseas session.
Now, the points for tonight's USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements near the London market open around 16:00
● Movements after the US trade balance release at 21:30
● Movements near the New York market open around 22:00 (Dow opens at 22:30)
● Movements after the US JOLTS job openings release at 23:00

Other notes..
・Be mindful of headlines related to US–Japan coordinated intervention
・Be mindful of headlines related to Middle East tensions

Tonight’s "1-minute chart scalping" will focus on moves near market opens plus after the 21:30 US trade balance and 23:00 US JOLTS releases. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” handling according to the theory should be fine. I definitely want to ride the follow-up intervention too..
Also, the "15-minute scalping" for shorts is likely to see follow-up intervention, so it’s worth trying. The entry point would be after a slight pullback to around 158, where you can sell.
Now the overseas session is about to start!
Because scalping targets small profit margins, it’s common to think there are 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By targeting times with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The times I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (UTC: 16:00 in US daylight time / 17:00 in US standard time)
・New York market open time (UTC: 22:00 in US daylight time / 23:00 in US standard time)
Immediately after US indicators/events are released, volatility tends to rise and opportunities increase. However, in the first few minutes after the release, the spread may widen, so the rule is to trade only after it returns to normal spreads.
Please check the US indicators/events schedule in advance on the websites of each brokerage/FX provider. Knowing when opportunities may come helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, please absolutely avoid positioning right before US indicators/events. If you go against it, you’ll be wiped out in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely not.
The US indicators/events schedule can be checked on the websites of various brokerages/FX providers.
Of course there are many other points, but I’ve covered the minimum essential points to keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
