[7/22 USDJPY Scalp Points]
Good work, everyone! Let's go ahead with USDJPY scalping again tonight!
First, here is today's Tokyo session overview.
Currently USDJPY is around 163.15 yen. This morning it started around 163.20, but during Tokyo time it paused its ascent at the lower 163 yen range, remaining in an range as it holds the historic weak yen level. It’s said to be the weakest yen since 1986!
USDJPY seems to be handing off to overseas trading at about the morning level.
With no strong yen-appreciation catalysts such as increases in crude oil due to clashes over control of the Strait of Hormuz, our Takashi-san’s substantial cabinet decision, or a slow pace of BOJ rate hikes, the market is consolidating around the 163 yen level. Even Katayama’s minister of finance statements about yen weakness are not changing the tone or having any effect.
Will the overseas players buy higher from here? From a USDJPY scalping perspective, a series of small, about-20-pip spikes followed by careful long entries feels easy and optimal right now.
Now, the points for tonight's USDJPY scalping.
● Movements near the London market open
● Movements near the New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)

Other notes…
・Be mindful of headlines related to Middle East tensions
・Be mindful of headlines related to government/BOJ intervention

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” has no major U.S. data or events on the schedule and there isn’t any particular market driver, so the movement around market opens will be the target. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” handling according to the theory should be fine. Also, the mysterious 20-pip spike and sudden pullbacks should be picked up with long entries now.
On the other hand, the “15-minute chart scalping” designed for shorts shows no yen-strength catalysts in the market, so there’s no need to force positions. Tonight I’d like to focus safely on “1-minute scalping.”
Now, the overseas session will start shortly!
Because scalping targets small profit margins, it often feels like there are 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By targeting time periods with relatively high volatility, you can drastically reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time periods I am targeting are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
• London market open time (16:00 during US daylight time / 17:00 during US standard time)
• New York market open time (22:00 during US daylight time / 23:00 during US standard time)
Even immediately after the release of US indicators/events, volatility remains high and opportunities abound. However, in the minutes immediately after the release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to enter only after they return to normal spreads.
Please always check the release schedule for US indicators/events in advance. Knowing when opportunities are likely to arise helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning immediately before US indicators/events. If you go against the move, you’ll be doomed. You could be taken to the stop-out level in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, never.
US indicators/event schedules can be checked on the websites of brokers and FX firms.
Of course, there are various other points, but I’ve explained the minimum points you should cover when scalping USDJPY.
