In Tokyo time, USD/JPY fell to 162.35 as a U.S. news site reported that a journalist said President Trump “had a phone call from Iran a little while ago and is looking to trade,” fueling expectations of easing tensions in the Middle East. It then recovered to162.57yen, but as crude oil futures fell, it dropped to162.24yen. In European trading, USD/JPY saw a rebound to162.50yen. In New York time, as crude futures fell and US Treasuries yields declined, USD/JPY dipped to10year yields, and then it fell to162.25yen, but subsequently162.35yen remained range-bound.
