[6/30 USD/JPY Scalping Points]
Good work, everyone! Let’s trade USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, from today’s Tokyo session overview.
The current USD/JPY is around 162.25. This morning the pair started around 161.90, but in the Tokyo session it broke through the psychologically significant 162.00 level and rose to around 162.40 at one point. It seems stops accumulated at the 162.00 level were triggered.
Entering the 162 yen range, one key point will be whether the government/BOJ will intensify its intervention. For now, psychologically, 162.50 and above seems to be the level market participants are watching.
By the way, if real-money intervention occurs, as in the example on April 30, the yen appreciated by about 5 yen. Interventions that go against fundamentals are eventually corrected, but as long as expectations for a rate hike in the U.S. do not fade, this movement won’t stop.
The USD/JPY is likely to hand over to the overseas session with about a 35-pip rise from the morning level.
Now, the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements near the 16:00 London market open
● Movements near the 22:00 New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)
● Movements after the 23:00 release of “U.S. Consumer Confidence Index” and “U.S. JOLTS Job Openings”
Also, the short-only “15-minute chart scalping” shows a break into the 162 range with some caution on upside, but it’s not a situation to force positions. Tonight I’d like to focus safely on “1-minute scalping.”
Now we’re about to enter overseas trading hours!
Because scalping targets small profit margins, it might seem like there are 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By targeting times with higher volatility, you can significantly lower the difficulty of trading.
The times I target are near the London market open and near the New York market open.
・London market open times (Eastern Time during US daylight time 16:00– / US standard time 17:00–)
・New York market open times (Eastern Time during US daylight time 22:00– / US standard time 23:00–)
There is also high volatility and many opportunities immediately after U.S. indicators/events are released. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads may widen, so the rule is to enter only after they revert to normal spreads.
Always check the U.S. indicators/events schedule in advance. Understanding when opportunities come allows you to accumulate profits efficiently.
In addition, absolutely avoid positioning just before U.S. indicators/events are announced. If you trade against the release, losses can be immediate. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely not.
U.S. indicators/events schedules can be checked on the websites of each securities/FX broker.
Of course there are other points beyond these three, but I’ve discussed the minimum points you should cover when scalping USD/JPY.
