【6/25 Dollar-Yen Scalping Points】
Good job everyone! Alright, let's do some USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, from today’s Tokyo time overview.
Currently USD/JPY is around 161.85. This morning it started around 161.75, but during Tokyo time, Bank of Japan Board Member Tamura made a hawkish comment that “it is important to move policy interest rate closer to the neutral rate (around 2%),” which caused the pair to dip to around 161.55, but it was quickly bought up and moved toward the upper 161 yen levels.
With expectations for higher U.S. rates driving dollar strength, as it nears 162 we see a mysterious spike that today seems suitable for probe buying as well. Also today there are many U.S. indicators on the schedule. Expect volatility.
Dollar/Yen is likely to hand over to overseas time at roughly the same level as the morning.
Now, the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around 16:00 when the London market opens
● Movements after the releases of the U.S. Initial Jobless Claims, Personal Income, Q1 GDP, and Durable Goods Orders at 21:30
● Movements around the New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)

Other notes…
・There will be notable statements from notable figures during trading (21:45 remarks by Fed Vice Chair Lael Brainard)
・Be careful of headlines related to the BoJ dollar intervention

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will target moves around market opens plus the moves following the 21:30 U.S. releases. For users of the “1-Minute Scalping Club,” follow the theory and it should be fine. Also, the mysterious spike should be picked up with small probe buys.
Also, the “15-minute chart scalping” which is short-selling focused, remains cautious about buying above 162; it could be worth trying. The setup would be preferable when you can sell above the mid-161 level. Still, the dollar-bullish trend continues, so expect to maneuver in smaller ranges.
Now, the overseas session is about to begin!
Because scalp profits per trade are small, one might think there are perpetual 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. Targeting periods with relatively high volatility can significantly reduce trading difficulty.
The time windows I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open times (16:00 during U.S. daylight time / 17:00 during U.S. standard time)
・New York market open times (22:00 during U.S. daylight time / 23:00 during U.S. standard time)
Even immediately after U.S. data releases, volatility tends to rise and many opportunities appear. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads can widen, so it’s essential to act only after spreads return to normal levels.
Please check the U.S. indicators and events schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities will arise helps you build profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning immediately before U.S. indicators/events. If you move against it, there’s little you can do. Careless mistakes are unacceptable—absolutely.
The U.S. indicators/events schedule can be checked on the websites of each securities/FX broker.
Of course there are other points besides the three mentioned above, but I’ve explained the essential points you should know when scalping USD/JPY.
