【6/11 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Good work everyone! Alright, let's go with USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, the Tokyo session overview for today.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 160.45. This morning it started around 160.50, but during the Tokyo session the probability of the US-Iran ceasefire agreement breaking down has increased, and safe-haven dollar buying is pushing it higher step by step.
However, there is strong vigilance for FX intervention in the market, so it hasn’t been easy to push price up aggressively. (This has been the case lately...)
USD/JPY remains elevated and is likely to hand over to the overseas session at roughly the same level as in the morning.
Now, the points for tonight's USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around 16:00 London open
● Movements after the release of the US Initial Jobless Claims and the US Producer Price Index at 21:30
● Movements around the New York open (Dow opens at 22:30)
Other notes…
・Be mindful of headlines related to US-Iran
・Be mindful of headlines related to BOJ forex intervention
Tonight's “1-minute chart scalping” will target movements around each market open, plus the moves after the 21:30 US data releases. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” following the usual theory should be fine.
Also, the short-only “15-minute chart scalping” remains biased toward safe-haven dollar buying as US-Iran hostilities intensify, so it isn’t a time to push positions aggressively. Tonight I’d like to focus on the reliable “1-minute scalping.” (This one has been the default lately...)
And soon the overseas session will begin!
Because scalping targets small profits, people tend to think there are 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By aiming at periods with higher volatility, trading difficulty can be significantly reduced.
The time windows I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open times (16:00 US Summer Time / 17:00 US Winter Time)
・New York market open times (22:00 US Summer Time / 23:00 US Winter Time)
Even immediately after US data/events, volatility increases and opportunities arise. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to trade only after spreads return to normal.
Always check the US data/event schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities may arise helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning just before US data/events. If you go against it, you’ll be wiped out in an instant. Careless mistakes are unacceptable.
US data/event schedules can be checked on the websites of each brokerage or FX dealer.
Of course there are many other points besides these three, but I’ve explained the minimum points to cover when scalping USD/JPY.
