Good morning, this is Makoto Matsushita.
Every February, I recall “something.”
It’s the day I first bought stock.
I think it was mid-February 2001.
The first stock I bought was 6479: Minebea 1,000 shares.
From there, my investment began,
and before I knew it, it had been 16 years.
After graduating from university, and now merged,
I worked for the former SANKYO Co., Ltd. for 10 years,
and then about two years as a pharmacist.
In terms of hobbies and lessons,
Kendo for 10 years, Tennis for 10 years, and Shodo (calligraphy) for 5 years,
frankly, investment has become a life’s work longer than any job
and longer than any hobby or lesson I’ve had.
It has become my life’s work.
Looking back over 16 years,
I have always faced the same issues and challenges,
and I think I have always repeated the same things.
And I always learn with a beginner’s mindset.
Today’s column is one of the challenges I’ve continued to pursue for 16 years
and will continue to pursue.

No. 184 “Prepare for What Comes Next”
In the market, a big trend always forms right before our eyes,
and big trends provide opportunities to make profits.
Even if a big trend is forming right in front of you,
you cannot profit from it. Because
the big trend has already occurred, and the opportunity
has long since passed.
When a big trend forms right before your eyes, analyze its characteristics and
properties in detail, and engrave them in your mind. If you do so,
the next time a big trend emerges in the market, you will
be able to leverage that trend and reap substantial profits.
That is how investors prepare for the next opportunity and earn profits.
