[Points for USD/JPY scalping on 5/8]
Good work everyone! Let’s do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, here is today's Tokyo time overview.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 156.85 yen. This morning it started around 156.80, and during Tokyo time it rose to just under 157 due to headlines related to US-Iran tensions and higher crude prices, but the movement has been limited.
It looks like it will hand off to the overseas session at roughly morning levels.
From around the 157 level, there is a strong sense of intervention risk, and the upside is heavy; it’s hard to imagine buying higher.
Now, the points for USD/JPY scalping tonight.
● Movements around the London market open (around 16:00)
● Movements after the US employment data release (21:30)
● Movements around the New York market open (22:00; Dow opens at 22:30)
● Movements after the University of Michigan consumer sentiment index release (23:00)

Other notes…
・Be mindful of headlines related to US-Iran tensions
・Be mindful of headlines related to BOJ currency interventions

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will target moves around market opens plus the moves after the 21:30 US employment data release and the 23:00 University of Michigan index release. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” handling according to the theory should be fine.
Additionally, the “15-minute scalping” that focuses on shorts only is showing strong intervention risk around the 157 level, making upside moves heavier, so it may be worthwhile to try. The entry would be when a pullback allows selling around the 157 level.
With that, overseas time is about to begin shortly!
Because scalping aims for small profit per trade, it is often thought there are 24-hour opportunities, but that is not the case. Targeting time periods with relatively high volatility can dramatically reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time windows I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (16:00 US Summer Time / 17:00 US Winter Time)
・New York market open time (22:00 US Summer Time / 23:00 US Winter Time)
Announcements of US indicators/events can keep volatility high and provide many chances. However, in the minutes immediately after the release, spreads may widen. Always enter only after spreads return to normal levels.
Please always check the US indicators/events schedule in advance on each brokerage or FX provider’s website. Knowing the best times to seize opportunities helps accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, avoid positioning right before US indicators/events. If you go against the trend, it can be disastrous. You can be taken to the stop-loss line in an instant. Carelessness is not acceptable, absolutely.
The US indicators/events schedule can be checked on each securities company's or FX broker’s website.
Of course there are other points besides the three above, but I’ve explained the minimum points you should remember when scalping USD/JPY.
