【5/7 USDJPY Scalping Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Alright, let's do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, a summary of today’s Tokyo session.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 156.40. This morning it started around 156.25, and during the Tokyo session it seems the government and the Bank of Japan intervened in the forex market yesterday, but this intervention’s rebound has been sluggish, trading in the low-156s.
Also, the rebound in crude oil prices after the sharp drop has been sluggish, which may be putting downward pressure on the dollar. It looks like we’ll transition to the overseas session near the morning levels.
With Finance Minister Amemiya or Minister Mizukawa(?) saying “after the holidays, the weekend comes,” the market appears wary of further interventions. Could be heavy on the upside today.
Now, the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around 16:00 London market open
● Movements after the 21:30 U.S. initial jobless claims data release
● Movements around the 22:00 New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)

Other notes..
・Be mindful of headlines related to U.S.-Iran tensions
・Be mindful of headlines related to BoJ forex intervention

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will aim for movements around each market open plus the movement after the 21:30 U.S. initial jobless claims release. For users of the “1-Minute Scalping Club,” handling according to standard theory should be fine.
Also, the “15-minute chart scalping,” which focuses on short positions, faces selling pressure due to crude oil weakness and intervention vigilance; it’s worth trying. The entry point would be waiting for a slight rebound to be able to sell around the 157 level.
Now we’re about to enter overseas hours!
Because the profit per trade in scalping is small, people often think there are 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The times I target are near the London market open and near the New York market open.
・London market open time (16:00 US daylight time / 17:00 US standard time)
・New York market open time (22:00 US daylight time / 23:00 US standard time)
Even immediately after U.S. indicators and events, volatility tends to rise and opportunities increase. However, in the minutes right after a release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to always enter after the spreads have returned to normal.
Always check the U.S. indicators and events schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities will come allows you to build profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning right before U.S. indicators and events are released. If you go against the trend, you’ll suffer. You can be taken to your stop-loss in an instant. Careless mistakes are unacceptable, absolutely.
The U.S. indicators and events schedule can be checked on the websites of each brokerage or FX broker.
Of course there are various other points beyond the three above, but I’ve discussed the essential points to keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
