【Points for USD/JPY scalping on 5/4】
Thank you for your hard work! Let's go with USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, the overview of the Tokyo session today.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 156.20. This morning it started around 156.75, but in the early Tokyo session, following remarks by U.S. President Trump that he was not satisfied with Iran's latest proposal and that it was unclear whether an agreement could be reached, it rose to around 157.25 (today's Asia high) just after 12:00 Japan time.
However, before 13:00 Japan time, a sizable sell-off that appeared to be currency intervention suddenly occurred, and it briefly dropped to around 155.70. After that, it somewhat recovered, and seems to be handing over to the overseas session with about a 65-pip decline from the morning level.
The last intervention ultimately retraced smoothly, and while it was criticized more than during the Kanda-era Financial Affairs Minister, this time there may be a second or third wave of selling to cap the rebound… so be on alert.
Now, the points for USD/JPY scalping tonight.
● Movements near the London market open around 16:00
● Movements near the New York market open around 22:00 (Dow open at 22:30)

Other notes…
・Beware headlines related to US-Iran situation
・Beware headlines related to BOJ FX intervention

Tonight's “1-minute chart scalping” has no major US indicators or events on the schedule, so there is no particular market driver; the targets are likely the moves near each market open. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” following the theory should be fine.
Also, for the short-only “15-minute scalping,” given that there was intervention-like selling in today’s Tokyo session and a second/third wave of selling is being watched, it’s worth attempting. The entry would be when selling can be executed above the mid-156 yen level, I suppose.
With that, international time is about to begin!
Because scalping aims for small profit margins, it may seem that there are opportunities 24 hours, but that is not the case. By targeting periods with relatively higher volatility, you can significantly lower the difficulty of trading.
The time zones I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (16:00 US daylight time / 17:00 US standard time)
・New York market open time (22:00 US daylight time / 23:00 US standard time)
Volatility remains high and opportunities arise immediately after US indicators/events are released. However, in the first few minutes after the release, the spread may widen, so always enter after it returns to the normal spread.
Please always check the US indicators/events schedule in advance. Knowing the times when opportunities come helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, positioning right before US indicators/events is absolutely to be avoided. If you move against them, you’ll be hit hard. Carelessness is not allowed, absolutely.
US indicators/events schedules can be checked on the websites of each securities/FX broker.
Of course, there are many other points, but I have explained the minimum key points to keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
