[4/28 Dollar/Yen Scalp Points]
Nice work everyone! Let’s do some Dollar/Yen scalping again tonight!
First, here is the Tokyo session overview for today.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 159.30. This morning it started around 159.40, and during the Tokyo session, although the Bank of Japan kept its policy rate unchanged, the voting result shifted from last time’s “8 in favor: 1 against” to this time’s “6 in favor: 3 against,” which apparently lends some hope for a rate hike next time, prompting a yen-buying flow.
After dropping to about 158.95 (today’s Asian low) shortly after 13:30 Japan time, there was a pullback from that level, and it seems the market will hand over to the overseas session at roughly the same level as in the morning.
There is growing market attention on each country’s monetary policy meetings, but what will move the market now, even in a stalemate, is likely headlines related to US-Iran tensions.
Now, the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around the London market open (around 16:00 in US summer time / 17:00 in US winter time)
● Movements around the New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30 in US summer time / 23:30 in US winter time)
● Movements after the US Consumer Confidence Index release at 23:00

Other notes ..
・Be mindful of headlines related to US-Iran tensions
・Be mindful of headlines related to BOJ/FX intervention

Tonight’s “1-minute scalping” will focus on movements around market opens and the moves after the 23:00 US Consumer Confidence Index release. For users of the “1-Minute Scalping Club,” handling as per the theory should be fine.
Also, the short-only “15-minute scalp” shows a back-and-forth after the BOJ Monetary Policy Meeting, and with US-Iran tensions in a stalemate, it’s hard to grasp a clear direction, so it isn’t wise to force positions. Tonight I’d prefer to focus safely on “1-minute scalping.”
Now the overseas session will start shortly!
Scalping tends to be thought of as having small target profits with many chances around the clock, but that’s not the case. By aiming for times with relatively high volatility, you can substantially lower the difficulty of trading.
The times I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open times (US Pacific time 8:00– / US Eastern time 9:00–)
・New York market open times (US Pacific time 22:00– / US Eastern time 23:00–)
Even immediately after US data/events releases, volatility rises and opportunities are abundant. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads may widen, so the rule is to enter after they return to normal spreads.
Please check the US data/event schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities come allows you to efficiently accumulate profits.
Also, please absolutely avoid positioning immediately before US data/events releases. If you go against the trend, there’s no mercy. You can be taken to the stop-loss level in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely.
US data/event schedules can be checked on the websites of each securities/FX broker.
Of course there are various other points as well, but I’ve discussed the minimum points you should keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
