【Weekly Review】Gold (XAUUSD): Battle of the trendline and signs of reversal seen on the weekend (April 20–24, 2026)
The Engineer's Weekly Recap Notes
Everyone, thank you for your hard work this week. I am Yume Oyaji.
“DowWave Marker (DWM)”Based on its behavior, we review this week's gold market.
Gold this week struggled with resistance on higher timeframes, but by the weekend there were interesting structural changes on lower timeframes.
【Daily Chart】A Thick Wall of a Descending Trendline
On the daily chart, prices have been held down by a descending trendline (pullback line) since the start of the week.
Currently, from the lows about a month ago, price has retraced, but there is still no strong breakout through this powerful trendline.
Status of “DowWave Marker(DWM)”remains“Watching”, and a major trend reversal still requires time.
【4-Hour Chart】Range Continues in a State of Equilibrium
On the 4-hour chart, this week there have been no new BOS▼ (structure updates).
Prices hover around moving averages, continuing an “equilibrium state” where neither side delivers a decisive move.
From the start of the week, the development has been directionless, suggesting that the higher timeframe is still accumulating power.
【1-Hour & 15-Minute】Continued Decline and CHoCH▲ Emerged on the Weekend
In the short-term timeframe, a structural change was recorded over the weekend.
【Movement by Time Period】
Clear selling pressure appeared immediately after the start of each day at 09:00 (yellow vertical line) on only two days of the week. On other days, movements tended to occur after European hours, showing market uncertainty.
【DowWave Marker(DWM) Structural Analysis: 15-Minute Turn】
This week's 15-minute chart saw consecutive BOS▼ toward the latter part of the week, indicating continuing downward pressure.
However, an important change occurred on the final day.
A CHoCH▲ (Change of Character) that negates the previous downtrend structure was confirmed.
Upper-timeframe supply zones are still distant, but on the 15-minute chart a clear trend reversal has been achieved, ending this week's trading.
Weekly Summary and Outlook for Next Week
This week, gold struggled against resistance on higher timeframes but closed with behavior that suggests a readiness to mount a counterattack at the current price level.
【Key Points for Next Week】
★ Continuation of 15-Minute CHoCH▲:Will the weekend reversal signal propagate into higher timeframe structure changes (BOS▲ or CHoCH▲)?
★ Break of the Daily Line:Will there be an attempt to test the orange trendline that has been capping upside for a long time?
★ Break of Range:Attention to which direction the price stopped at the 4-hour level will break.
A signal of “change” has finally appeared on the short-term timeframe. Next week, will this CHoCH▲ prove genuine, or will it end as مجرد a pullback?
We will carefully monitor the behavior of “DowWave Marker(DWM)”.
