【4/23 Dollar/Yen Scalp Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Now let's do dollar/yen scalping again tonight!
First, here is today's Tokyo session overview.
Currently, the dollar/yen is around 159.60. This morning it started at around 159.40, but during the Tokyo session it fluctuated due to a false report that explosions were heard across Iran (it turned out to be the sound caused by the activation of air defense systems during a military drill).
Although it was a false alarm, given the unclear situation between the U.S. and Iran, crude oil prices stayed firm and the dollar weakened a bit higher. From the morning level, it seems set to hand over to the overseas session with about a 20-pip rise.
Today too, the market is reacting sensitively to headlines related to the U.S.-Iran situation.
Now, here are tonight's dollar/yen scalp points.
● Movements around the London market open around 16:00
● Movements after the U.S. initial jobless claims release at 21:30
● Movements around the New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)
● Movements after the U.S. manufacturing PMI/construction PMI release at 22:45

Other notes…
・Be cautious of headlines related to U.S.-Iran developments
・Be cautious of headlines related to BoJ currency intervention

This evening's "1-minute scalp" focuses on movements around each market open, plus the moves after 21:30 (U.S. initial jobless claims) and 22:45 (U.S. PMI releases). If you are a user of the "1-minute scalp club," follow the theory and you should be fine. The market remains sensitive to headlines related to the U.S.-Iran situation tonight as well.
Additionally, the "15-minute scalp" for shorts could see some cooling due to the extension of the U.S.-Iran ceasefire; it might be worth trying. The entry point would be when you can sell around the mid-159 level.
Well then, overseas time will begin shortly!
Scalping tends to be thought of as having small profit margins and thus 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By targeting periods with reasonably high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time I target is around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open times (16:00 US daylight time / 17:00 US standard time)
・New York market open times (22:00 US daylight time / 23:00 US standard time)
After U.S. indicators/events are released, volatility often increases and there are many opportunities. However, in the minutes immediately after the release, spreads may widen, so always enter after they return to the normal spread.
Please check the U.S. indicators/events schedule in advance. Understanding when opportunities will come allows you to accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, avoid positioning just before U.S. indicators/events releases. If you go against them, you’ll be in trouble in an instant, and you could hit your stop-loss quickly. Careless mistakes are not allowed, absolutely.
U.S. indicators/events schedules can be checked on the websites of each securities company or FX provider.
Of course there are other points as well, but I’ve covered the essential points you should keep in mind when scalping the dollar/yen.
