[4/21 USD/JPY Scalp Points]
Good job today! Let’s continue with USD/JPY scalping tonight as well!
First, from today’s Tokyo session overview.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 158.90. It started this morning around 158.75, but during Tokyo time it moved with a cautious mood ahead of the US-Iran situation, taking a wait-and-see stance.
There were headlines about Iran participating in additional talks with the United States, but the gap between the two countries is wide and the situation is unclear. It seems to be handing over to the overnight session at roughly morning levels.
Today, the market is too uncertain about the future moves of the US and Iran, so it can’t move decisively in either direction. We’re waiting for headlines..
Now, here are tonight’s USD/JPY scalping points.
● Movements near the London market open around 16:00
● Movements after the US Retail Sales release at 21:30
● Movements near the New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)
● Movements after the US Existing Home Sales Pending at 23:00

Other notes..
・Senior official remarks during the trade are possible (23:00 “Hearing on the nomination approval of Jerome Powell’s successor as Fed Chair”)
・Be attentive to headlines related to US-Iran situation
・Be attentive to headlines related to BOJ currency intervention

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will target movements around each market open plus the moves after the 21:30 US Retail Sales and 23:00 US Existing Home Sales Pending announcements. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” following the theory should pose no problem. Note that “US Existing Home Sales Pending” is not highly attention-grabbing though.. Also tonight, factors driving the market are likely headlines related to the US-Iran situation.
Additionally, for those who focus on the 15-minute scalping, the future direction of US-Iran remains uncertain, but there isn’t an appetite for pushing higher in the market, so trying it is also a possibility. The entry point would be when you can sell around the 159 level.
Now soon the overseas session will begin!
Because the profit margin aimed for in scalping is small, one might think there are 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The times I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (16:00 in US daylight time / 17:00 in US standard time)
・New York market open time (22:00 in US daylight time / 23:00 in US standard time)
Even immediately after US data/events, volatility increases and opportunities are abundant. However, in the few minutes right after the release, spreads may widen, so always enter after they return to normal spreads as a rule.
Please always check the US data/event schedule in advance. Knowing the times when opportunities arise allows you to accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, avoid positioning immediately before US data/events. If you go against it, it’ll be hard to recover. You can be instantly taken to your stop-loss. Careless mistakes are unacceptable, absolutely.
US data/event schedules can be checked on the websites of each securities/FX broker.
Of course, there are other points besides these three, but I’ve discussed the essential points you should cover when scalping USD/JPY.
