[4/20 USD/JPY Scalping Points]
Good work everyone! Let’s start USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, an overview of the Tokyo session today.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 158.85. This morning it started near 159.75, but during the Tokyo session, Iran hinted at re-closing the Strait of Hormuz, which strengthened safe-haven dollar buying, and around 9:00 Japan time it rose to about 159.20 (today’s Asia high).
However, with President Trump signaling possible further talks on the 21st, the upside did not continue, and it seems likely we’ll hand over to overseas trading at roughly the morning level.
Because future developments between the U.S. and Iran are too uncertain, the market is in a state where it can’t move decisively in either direction. Waiting for headlines, perhaps…
Now, tonight’s USD/JPY scalping points.
● Movements around the London market open at 16:00
● Movements around the New York market open at 22:00 (Dow opens at 22:30)

Other notes…
・Be mindful of headlines related to U.S.-Iran developments
・Be mindful of headlines related to BOJ intervention

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” has few high-profile U.S. data or events scheduled, so there isn’t any particular market-moving material. The moves around market opens will likely be the key targets. For users of the “1-minute Scalping Club,” handling according to theory should be fine. Tonight, too, factors moving the market are likely to be headlines related to U.S.-Iran developments.
Also, the short-only “15-minute Scalping” isn’t advisable given the uncertainty of U.S.-Iran developments. I’d like to focus on “1-minute Scalping” tonight. It’s Monday, so let’s play it safe.
With that, overseas time will begin soon!
Because scalping aims for small profit margins, people often think there are 24-hour opportunities, but that isn’t the case. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can drastically reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time windows I target are around the London market open and the New York market open.
・London market open times (U.S. daylight time 16:00– / U.S. standard time 17:00–)
・New York market open times (U.S. daylight time 22:00– / U.S. standard time 23:00–)
Volatility remains high and opportunities are plentiful immediately after U.S. data/events are released. However, in the minutes right after the release, spreads can widen, so always re-enter after they return to normal spreads.
Always check the U.S. indicators/events schedule in advance on the websites of brokers and FX providers. Understanding the time windows when opportunities will arise helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning right before U.S. data/events. If you go against it, you’ll be hurt in an instant as your stop-out line will be hit. Careless mistakes are not acceptable.
You can check the U.S. indicators/events schedule on each brokerage and FX provider’s website.
Of course there are points beyond the three above, but I’ve explained the minimum points you should keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
