【4/17 Dollar/Yen scalping points】
Thank you for your hard work! Let’s do some Dollar/Yen scalping again tonight!
First, the Tokyo session overview for today.
Currently, the USD/JPY is around 159.40. The pair started this morning around 159.15, but during the Tokyo session, in addition to waiting for headlines regarding peace talks between the US and Iran, Bank of Japan Governor Ueda described the policy decision as “extremely difficult,” which reduced expectations for a rate hike this month and led to a somewhat weaker yen move.
From the morning level, it looks like it will rise about 25 pips to hand over to the overseas session. Today’s Asia high is around 159.55 and Asia low is around 159.05.
The USD/JPY remains high, but since additional talks between the US and Iran are anticipated, I feel there may be a late-week corrective selling in the near term...
Now, the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements near 16:00 London market open
● Movements near 22:00 New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)
———
Other notes...
・Be cautious of headlines related to the US-Iran situation
・Be cautious of headlines related to BOJ currency intervention
———
Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will rely on movements around market openings since there are no major US indicators or events planned to drive the market today. For users of the “1-minute Scalping Club,” just trade in line with the theory. The main factor moving the market tonight will be headlines related to the US-Iran situation.
Also, for the short-only “15-minute scalping,” there isn’t a strong buy-the-highs picture in the market, so it may be worth attempting position-adjustment selling. The entry point would be when you can sell around the 159 mid levels.
With that, overseas trading is about to start soon!
Because scalping targets small profit margins, one might think there are 24-hour opportunities, but that isn’t the case. By aiming for time periods with higher volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time I’m targeting is around the London market open and the New York market open.
・London market open time (US daylight time 16:00 / US standard time 17:00)
・New York market open time (US daylight time 22:00 / US standard time 23:00)
Volatility remains high and opportunities abound immediately after US indicators or events are released. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads may widen, so it is essential to wait for spreads to return to normal before entering a trade.
Always check the US indicators and events schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities will arise helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning immediately before the release of US indicators or events. If you go against it, you’ll be wiped out in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely.
The US indicators and events schedule can be checked on the websites of brokers and FX providers.
Of course there are many other points as well, but I’ve outlined the minimum points to keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
