[4/13 USD/JPY Scalping Points]
Thank you for your hard work! Alright, let's do USD/JPY scalping tonight as well!
First, here is today's Tokyo time overview.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 159.60. This morning it started around 159.50, but during Tokyo time, due to the failure to reach an agreement in the weekend US-Iran ceasefire talks, it gap up on the open with a safe-haven dollar bid.
However, subsequent moves have been limited, and the price is expected to drift up by about 10 pips from the morning level as we transition to overseas hours.
The ceasefire talks between the US and Iran breaking down was presumably within expectations, and the market is calm.
Now, here are the points for tonight's USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around 16:00 London market open
● Movements around 22:00 New York market open (Dow opens at 22:30)
● Movements after the release of the US Existing Home Sales

Other notes…
・15:15 Statements by Bank of Japan Governor Ueda
・Be mindful of headlines related to Middle East tensions
・Be mindful of headlines related to BoJ currency intervention

Tonight’s “1-minute scalping” looks for moves near each market open, plus the 23:00 release of the US Existing Home Sales. For users of the “1-minute Scalping Club,” you should be able to handle it by following the theory. Tonight as well, watch headlines related to Middle East tensions.
Also, the “15-minute scalping” for shorts is likely to see selling near around 160 yen due to BoJ intervention caution, so that could be a setup. The entry point would be to wait for a slight pullback and be able to sell above around the mid-159s; however, given that the US-Iran ceasefire talks have collapsed over the weekend, do not chase too deeply and manage positions in smaller increments.
Now let’s head into overseas hours shortly!
Because scalping targets small profit margins, it may seem like there are 24-hour opportunities, but that is not the case. Targeting periods with higher volatility can substantially reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time I target is around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (in US daylight saving time 16:00 / in US standard time 17:00)
・New York market open time (in US daylight saving time 22:00 / in US standard time 23:00)
Even immediately after US data releases or events, volatility rises and opportunities increase. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads may widen, so it is essential to wait until they revert to normal spread before taking positions.
Always check the US data and event calendar in advance. Knowing when opportunities will come helps you accumulate profits more efficiently.
Also, avoid positioning right before US data or event releases. If you move against it, you can’t recover. Careless mistakes are unacceptable, absolutely.
US data and event schedules can be checked on the websites of brokerage firms and FX brokers.
Of course there are other points as well, but I’ve shared the minimum points you should cover when scalping USD/JPY.
