On Friday before the weekend, April 7, gold (XAU/USD) started with range-bound movement around $4,620–$4,680. After three days of closes, there were no large gaps, but the post-NFP drop last week (from $4,758 to $4,633) left the dollar firm and gold facing a soft upper level.
At the start of the new trading week, liquidity recovered and prices briefly returned to the $4,800s, but the Fed’s expectation of zero rate cuts in 2026 continues to restrain a real rally in gold. Ongoing Middle East tensions, with Operation Epic Fury by the U.S. military and crude oil above $100, remain as geopolitical risk supporting gold’s downside limits.
We continue to assume a range of $4,500–$4,700, with a potential uptrend resuming if it moves above $4,700, and a mid-term correction risk expanding if it falls below $4,500.

Compared with last week’s sharp drawdown where the average number of averages reached 13, today is a steadier start. As long as gold remains in the $4,620–$4,680 range, RSI conditions are likely to be met, so we expect continued small entries and exits.
