[Episode 5] "Seeing it but unable to reproduce it" How to overcome it
【Episode 5】The true form of “I can see it but can’t reproduce it”
Why it doesn’t go well even though you understand it.
Introduction: To those who have read this far
Thank you truly for reading from Episode 1 up to here.
If you’ve read this far, you probably think,
“Charts alone may not be enough.”
“There are reasons the same pattern yields different results.”
Perhaps you’re starting to feel that sense little by little.
I’ve wrestled with the exact same thing myself.
Even though you understand it, you can’t do it.
When trading,
“I understand it in my head, but for some reason I can’t act.”
You’ve probably felt that sensation.
It’s painful, isn’t it.
We all know that correlations are important,
we should reduce unnecessary trades,
and that many people actually understand this.
Still,
you end up taking the entry when you notice it.
Looking back later, you think, “I shouldn’t have enter.”
I’ve repeated this many times too.
The problem wasn’t the “way of looking.”
My past self believed that I had to
get better at seeing things.
So I thought I had to
learn how to draw lines,
increase indicators,
and tighten entry points.
But no matter how much I learned, it didn’t stabilize.
Looking back now, the problem wasn’t there.
The sense of “not being able to process it”
The movement of GOLD, the flow of the dollar, the relationships with other assets.
There isn’t just one piece of information you should look at,
and organizing and judging all of that in real time is harder than you might think.
When you look at the chart later,
you think, “I shouldn’t have done this here,”
but you can’t judge in that moment.
It’s not that you lack ability, it’s that you were just not “able to process it all.”
Reasons why it can’t be replicated
Even when something goes well,
you can’t reproduce it by doing the same thing.
The reason is simple.
Even though you think you’re looking,
you are actually making slightly different judgments each time.
That’s why results aren’t stable.
This state was the most painful.
The moment I felt a bit lighter
What changed drastically wasn’t that I gained a “special way of seeing.”
It was that I was able to judge in more similar situations.
If conditions are the same, you enter. If you feel it’s different, you pass.
As this gradually aligned, the burden of trading began to lessen.
If the conditions felt different, you would pass.
It wasn’t a matter of talent
Honestly, I once thought maybe I wasn’t suited for it.
But now I think
not a difference in “sense,”
but a difference in whether there is a system to stabilize judgments.
Why humans tend to drift
No matter how much you understand,
when you’re tired or on a losing streak,
or a bit anxious,
your judgments can easily slip.
I think this is true for everyone.
What was needed was to “stabilize”
What mattered to me was not so much “seeing correctly,”
but “creating a state where the same judgments can be continued.”
Once I could do this little by little,
unnecessary trades decreased.
The stories so far now connect a little
and begin to make sense here.
Days when you do nothing.
Reasons why the same shape yields different results.
The feeling that only when things align does it go well.
All of this was about judgment drift and reproducibility.
The remaining challenge
Even so, challenges still remain up to this point.
“How do you stabilize it?”
This was the final barrier.
Even if you understand it,
if you let your guard down you revert back.
I’ve stumbled here many times as well.
The answer I arrived at
Among trying various things,
I eventually settled on a simple approach.
“Don’t rely on yourself too much to make decisions.”
That’s all.
Some things changed little by little
Since becoming aware of this,
the urge to force entries decreased,
and the number of “satisfactory” cuts increased.
As a result,
the entire trading became
gradually calmer.
To those who’ve read this far
If you feel
“I understand it but it doesn’t go well”“where I’m doing it, where I’m not”
“I want to reduce wasteful losses”
If that’s how you feel, just look at that part.
you might be at the same place as I was.
This weekend, as usual
I will publish the weekly trade verification results.
If you’d like,
Even that alone will give you a feel for it.
In closing
Trading is less about
“where you don’t do it.”
That is a first step toward stability.
