Domestic MT4 Shock: All Brokers Move to Two-Factor Authentication!?
I absolutely automate my favorite indicators (mainly products from HappyAngel) through the listed “Loop-Turnaround_EA” for reverse-trading.
However, when attempting to do automated trading (MT4) domestically, the biggest barrier is the “broker selection.”
This is especially evident with CFDs like GOLD and Nikkei 225.
In fact, recently I considered FOREX.com as a potential future option and made direct inquiries.
From the official responses I received, a decisive future around domestic MT4 has become clear.
In short, all domestic MT4 brokers will inevitably have to adopt two-factor authentication sooner or later.
From the perspective of the developer MetaTrader and financial regulations, security enhancements (two-factor authentication) have become an industry-wide necessity.
In the response from FOREX.com as well, it was explicitly stated that “there is a possibility that some form of対応 (two-factor authentication, etc.) may be required in the future.”
As already noted, OANDA JAPAN has chosen to discontinue providing MT4 by not implementing this system overhaul.
【A reversal of the perception that Rakuten Securities was “hard to use”】
Until now I had avoided Rakuten Securities’ MT4 CFD because “you need to do two-factor authentication on the web each time you log in, making automated operation unreliable.”
However, now that I know the entire industry is moving toward two-factor authentication, my view has changed 180 degrees.
While other companies are retreating or grappling with future system revisions, Rakuten Securities has already built and deployed its own two-factor authentication system.
This means they are committed to “protecting the MT4 environment for customers even if it means meeting stringent requirements,” and they can be trusted to continue offering MT4 reliably.
【Rakuten MT4 x VPS: an “optimal” operation method】
Rakuten MT4 login procedure is unusual.
1. Log in to the Rakuten Securities top page with two-factor authentication (including email verification)
2. Navigate to the MT4 CFD page and issue a “MT4 login password”
3. Enter that MT4 password (which is changed each time) into MT4 to log in
At first glance it may seem cumbersome, but for automated trading, if you stick to the operation of “log in to MT4 once on a VPS (virtual server), run the EA, and basically never log out (the VPS is not rebooted),” then this login hassle is resolved with just the “one initial time.” This is the optimal (hack) for the 2FA era.
Tax advantages, brokers’ seriousness about staying in business, and VPS operation hacks.
Taking these into account, I am considering reactivating with Rakuten Securities’ MT4 CFD as the main stage after the Iran situation settles.
I hope this helps those who are currently迷っている (undecided) about choosing a domestic MT4 broker.
