MMA Weekly Report Nikkei Stock Average By Raymond Merriman Mar.16 2026
1. Review
Last week, the Nikkei Stock Average closed at 53,819, down 1,801 points from the previous week. The week's low was 51,407 on Monday the 9th. The week's high was 55,745 on Wednesday the 11th. The weekly low briefly fell below the weekly downside support line but recovered. Since the closing price was above, this was a bullish trigger. In reality, the week's close price fell for the second consecutive week below the Weekly Trend Indicator Point (TIP). However, the underlying trend remains in a “neutral” state.
2. Cycles
As has been stated previously, in “Forecast 2026” the long-term market cycle for the Nikkei Stock Average has been shifted from 17 years to 19 years. However, there is no change to the starting point of October 28, 2008, at 6,994. Therefore, where this 19-year cycle bottoms, or whether it has not yet bottomed, will be the focal point in 2026.
