【3/10 Dollar-Yen Sniping Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Now let’s do dollar-yen scalping again tonight!
First, here is today’s Tokyo session outlook.
Currently the dollar-yen is around 157.80. This morning it started around 157.60, but in the early Tokyo session the continued dollar selling since the end of New York time yesterday due to President Trump’s remark that “the Iran war will end soon” persisted.
It fell to around 157.50 just after 10:00 Japan time, but there is strong skepticism about an early end to the Iran war, causing some dollar buying to rebound from that level. It is expected to bounce about 20 pips from the morning level as we hand over to overseas trading. It looks like it will be hard for it to rise above the 158 level from this drop.
At present the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, and future developments will depend on that.
Now, the points for tonight’s dollar-yen scalping.
● Movements near the London market open around 16:00
● Movements near the New York market open around 22:00 (Dow open at 22:30)
● Movements after the release of the U.S. existing home sales

Other notes…
・Be mindful of headlines related to Middle East tensions

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will aim at movements around market opens plus the moves after the 23:00 U.S. existing home sales release. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” handling according to theory should be fine. Also, headlines related to Middle East tensions require caution today as well.
Also, the “15-minute chart scalping,” which is focused on short selling, is affected by the decline stemming from President Trump’s remarks about an early end to the Iran war, making upper levels heavy; it might be worth trying. The entry point would be around the 158 yen level if you can sell there.
Now, the overseas session will begin shortly!
Because the profit per scalp is small, it might seem there are always 24-hour opportunities, but that is not the case. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can dramatically reduce the difficulty of trading.
The times I target are near the London market open and near the New York market open.
・London market open time (16:00 US daylight time / 17:00 US standard time)
・New York market open time (22:00 US daylight time / 23:00 US standard time)
Even immediately after U.S. indicators or events, volatility tends to rise and opportunities increase. However, in the first few minutes after an announcement, the spread may widen, so the rule is to always enter after it returns to the normal spread.
Be sure to check the U.S. indicators and event schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities will come helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning immediately before U.S. indicators or events. If you go against it, you can’t even imagine the loss. Careless mistakes are unacceptable, absolutely.
U.S. indicators and events schedules can be checked on the websites of each brokerage or FX provider.
Of course there are other points besides these three, but this is the minimum to keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
