Good morning, this is Matsushita.
The other day, after giving a lecture at a seminar in Shinjuku,
I heard an interesting conversation inside the train on the Yamanote Line on my way home from the office.
I was standing near the door looking out the window,
and behind me, two men in their late 20s to early 30s were talking,
their voices naturally catching my ear.
They were senior and junior colleagues.
At first, it was an inconsequential conversation,
but at some point the topic turned to, “What do you want to do from now on?”
The conversation then unfolded as follows.
Senior: “I want to try making money.”
Junior: “That sounds good.
I really like honest opinions like that.
So, are you doing anything concrete?
Senior: “Actually, I tried FX the other day.”
(At this point, in my mind: “Oh, so that’s where this is going.”)
Junior: “And how did it go?”
Senior: “Well, I had no idea what I was doing.
I ended up losing 100,000 yen.”
Junior: “What leverage did you use?”
Senior: “No, the leverage was already decided.”
……
This kind of conversation continued right behind me.
I thought this was how typically young people become interested in FX and start it,
and I was surprised by the content of the conversation I was hearing for the first time.
That won’t lead to winning, I suppose.
I could have turned around to them and said,
“I’m an FX instructor, but you won’t win just like this,
I won’t tell you to do ill-advised things, so come to my school.”
But I didn’t give that advice; I sent them a silent encouragement and headed home.
There are people who don’t know anything like this,
with a trivial curiosity or a certain level of seriousness,
who will start FX or stocks,
but at this entry stage, they will be shaken out of the market before they can profit.
I want to become more and more mainstream myself,
so that investors who dream like them can learn from the start in an environment where they can study.
It was a precious conversation I overheard on the Yamanote Line.
If you want to move from this aimless FX to something concrete that builds toward profits, you have no choice but to learn.
