“I only trust my instincts when I’m putting my life on the line.”

This line from Episode 2 of the anime “Chikyū no Undo ni Tsuite” (About the Earth’s Motion) stayed with me.

Intuition and emotion are completely different things.

The “we can still go on” that arises from a losing position is an emotion, and

the impulse to average down is an emotion as well.

That is not intuition, but mere hopeful speculation.

Meanwhile,

“Today’s shape is bad”

“I have a bad feeling about this trend”

Such discomfort comes from intuition that has been formed through verification, failures, and experience,

accumulated over time.

In the end, the survivor may be the one whose intuition is sharpened.
