[2/6 Dollar/Yen Scalping Points]
Good work today! Let’s do dollar-yen scalping again tonight!
First, here is today's Tokyo-time overview.
Currently, the USD/JPY is around 156.75. This morning it started around 157.00, but in the early Tokyo session, with the House of Representatives election coming up on the weekend, there was some position-adjustment selling pressure.
In the afternoon, as more Bank of Japan policymakers spoke about not particularly considering the pace of rate hikes, the dollar/yen recovered, and from the morning level it’s about 25 pips lower as we head into the overseas session.
With the election looming, there won’t be aggressive buying, and with the decline in precious metals, risk-off moves are expanding, so today seems likely to be a heavy ceiling.
Now, the points for tonight's USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around the London market open near 17:00
● Movements around the New York market open near 23:00 (Dow opens at 23:30)
● Movements after the US University of Michigan Consumer Confidence Index release at 24:00
—–
Other notes…
・Today’s US Employment Situation figures have been postponed to 2/13

Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will target movements around each market open, plus the move after the 24:00 US Michigan consumer confidence release. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” just follow the theory and you’ll be fine.
Additionally, the “15-minute chart scalping” for shorts is heavy due to risk-off moves from the decline in precious metals, so it’s worth trying. The entry point would be after a slight pullback if you can sell around the 157 yen level.
With that, overseas time is about to start!
Because scalping targets small profit margins, it is often thought there are opportunities 24 hours a day, but that is not the case. By aiming for times with relatively high volatility, you can dramatically lower the difficulty of trading.
The time periods I target are near the London market open and near the New York market open.
・London market open time (US daylight saving time 16:00– / US standard time 17:00–)
・New York market open time (US daylight saving time 22:00– / US standard time 23:00–)
Even just after US indicators/events are released, volatility increases and there are many opportunities. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads may widen, so always enter after they return to normal spreads as a rule.
Please always check the US indicators/events schedule in advance. Knowing the times when opportunities come around will help you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning just before US indicators/events. If you go against them, there’s no mercy. You can be taken to the stop-loss line in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely.
US indicator/event schedules can be checked on the websites of brokerages and FX dealers.
Of course there are other points besides the three above, but I’ve discussed the essential points you should keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
