[2/5 Dollar-Yen Scalp Points]
Good job everyone! Alright, let's do some dollar-yen scalping again tonight!
First, the Tokyo time overview for today.
Currently the USD/JPY is around 157.15. This morning it started around 156.80, and during Tokyo hours it moved in a steady manner on the back of yen selling ahead of the weekend lower house election, and dollar buying following the favorable results of last night’s US ISM Non-Manufacturing PMI. However, as it nears the 157 level, movement became nervous.
A level where rate checks and jawboning have heightened caution. It looks like it will transition to overseas time with about 35 pips of upside from the morning level.
With European participants entering, it has finally breached into the 157 handle, but the image of continuously buying higher doesn’t come to mind.
Now, the points for tonight's USD/JPY scalping.
● Movement around the London market open
● Movement after the US initial jobless claims release at 22:30
● Movement around the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
● Movement after the US JOLTS job openings release at 24:00

Tonight’s “1-minute scalp” aims to trade around the market opens plus the moves after 22:30 US initial jobless claims and 24:00 US JOLTS job openings. For users of the “1-minute scalp club,” handling according to theory should be fine.
Also, the short-only “15-minute scalp” is not advisable with the weekend election ahead, as yen selling accelerates. Tonight I plan to focus on the “1-minute scalp.”
Now we’re about to begin overseas time!
Scalping tends to be perceived as having small profit targets and constant 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. Targeting times with relatively high volatility can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The times I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (UTC夏時間 16:00~ / US Standard Time 17:00~)
・New York market open time (UTC夏時間 22:00~ / US Standard Time 23:00~)
Even immediately after US data/events releases, volatility increases and opportunities arise. However, in the moments right after an announcement, the spread can widen, so the rule is to enter only after it returns to the normal spread.
Always check the US indicators/events schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities will come helps build profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning just before US indicators/events releases. If you move against it, you’ll be wiped out in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely not.
US indicators/events schedules can be checked on each brokerage or FX provider’s website.
Of course there are many other points beyond the three above, but I’ve explained the essential points to keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
