【2/2 Dollar-Yen Scalping Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Tonight as well, let's do dollar-yen scalping!
First, from today’s Tokyo time overview.
Currently, the dollar-yen is around 154.75. This morning it started around 154.85, but in the early Tokyo session there were moments when the yen weakened to around 155.50. The reason being that polls over the weekend during the House of Representatives election suggested the ruling party was ahead and a more expansionary fiscal policy stance would strengthen.
However, later the “Main Opinions at the Bank of Japan Policy Meeting” were positive toward rate hikes, turning the flow into yen buying, and it seems the price will hand over to the overseas session at roughly the morning level.
There is some thought that the U.S. government shutdown may not be as short-lived as anticipated, which may be selling dollars a bit.
Overall, I don’t think the bullish dollar-yen outlook will change… what do you think?
Now, the points for tonight’s dollar-yen scalping.
● Movement around the London market open around 17:00
● Movement around the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
● Movement after the U.S. ISM Manufacturing PMI release at 24:00
—–
Other notes…
・Possibility of the Liberal Democratic Party achieving a single-majority, and possibly over 300 seats with the Liberal Democratic Party and Ishin (polls)
—–
Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” is expected to target movements around market openings plus the movement after the 24:00 U.S. ISM manufacturing PMI release. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” handling according to the theory should be fine.
Also, the “15-minute chart scalping” for short-only traders had headlines about the BoJ being positive toward rate hikes or the U.S. government shutdown not being as short-lived as expected, but I think the overall dollar-yen bullish outlook will continue, so take care and don’t overexert yourself. Tonight I plan to focus on “1-minute scalping.”
And now the overseas session is about to start!
Because scalping targets small profit margins, it’s often thought there are opportunities 24 hours a day, but that is not the case. By aiming for time periods with higher volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The times I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (16:00 during U.S. daylight time / 17:00 during U.S. standard time)
・New York market open time (22:00 during U.S. daylight time / 23:00 during U.S. standard time)
Even immediately after U.S. data and events are released, volatility increases and opportunities arise. However, in the first few minutes after the release, the spread may widen, so the rule is to act only after returning to the normal spread.
Please check the U.S. data and event schedules in advance on broker or FX provider websites. Knowing the times when opportunities will come allows you to accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, avoid positioning immediately before U.S. data or events. If you go against them, you’ll be in trouble in an instant, with your stop-out line reached. Carelessness is not allowed, absolutely.
U.S. data and event schedules can be checked on the websites of each securities or FX provider.
Of course, there are other points besides these three, but I’ve discussed the essential points to keep in mind when scalping the dollar-yen.
