【1/29 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Good work everyone! Let’s do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, the overview of Tokyo time for today.
Currently USD/JPY is around 153.05. This morning it started around 153.35, but during Tokyo time there was a slight dollar-selling trend.
Last night, U.S. Treasurer Janet Yellen? Said that “the United States will absolutely not intervene in the USD/JPY market,” which could be taken as a firebreak, but with concerns about a U.S. government shutdown and the possibility of an attack on Iran, the dollar-selling trend seems likely to continue.
From the morning level, about 30 pips lower would likely hand over to overseas trading hours.
Now, the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements near the London market open at 17:00
● Movements after the release of US initial jobless claims and US trade balance at 22:30
● Movements near the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
—–
Other notes..
・Notice headlines related to progress in avoiding a U.S. government shutdown
・Reports that the U.S. is considering a large-scale attack on Iran

Tonight’s “1-minute scalping” aims to capture movements near each market open plus the 22:30 release of US initial jobless claims and US trade balance. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” if you handle it according to the theory, there should be no problem.
Also, the short-only “15-minute scalping” looks like there will be opportunities as the dollar-selling trend continues due to concerns about a U.S. government shutdown and possible Iranian attack. If it pulls back a bit to the mid-153 range, we’ll execute a short.
Now, overseas time will start soon!
Because scalping targets small profit margins, people often think there are 24-hour opportunities, but that is not the case. By targeting periods with relatively high volatility, you can dramatically reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time periods I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (UTC-4 in summer / UTC-5 in winter)
・New York market open time (UTC-4 in summer / UTC-5 in winter)
Volatility often increases and opportunities arise immediately after U.S. data/events releases. However, in the first several minutes after the release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to always re-enter after returning to normal spreads.
Always check the U.S. data/event schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities will come helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, avoid positioning immediately before U.S. data/events. If you go against the trend, you’ll be in trouble in an instant. Careless mistakes are unacceptable, absolutely.
U.S. data/event schedules can be checked on the websites of brokerage firms and FX providers.
Of course there are other points besides these three, but I’ve talked about the minimum crucial points to keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
