【1/21 Dollar-Yen Scalping Points】
Good work! Let’s go with USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, here is today's Tokyo session overview.
Currently, USD/JPY is around 158.15. This morning it started around 158.10, but during the Tokyo session there was little direction and it traded in a narrow range overall.
As President Trump softened his stance regarding Greenland, saying that “we may find some solution within a few days at Davos” and that “we may reach some agreement with Europe,” as overseas time approaches there seems to be a bit of dollar buying.
It looks like we’ll hand over to overseas time at roughly the same level as this morning.
Please pay attention to President Trump’s comments at the Davos meeting this evening.
Now, here are the USD/JPY scalping points for tonight.
● Movements near the London market open at around 17:00
● Movements after the Speech by President Trump at Davos around 22:30
● Movements near the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
● Movements after the release of US Existing Home Sales Pending

Other notes…
・Be mindful of statements that may prompt yen weakness at the highest level and rate check reports

Tonight’s “1-minute Scalping” will target moves around market openings plus the 22:30 “Speech by President Trump at Davos” and the 24:00 “US Existing Home Sales Pending” releases. For users of the “1-minute Scalping Club,” handling it according to the theory should be fine.
Also, the short-only “15-minute Scalping” is showing a solid bottom due to Trump softening his stance on the Greenland issue, so I won’t push it hard today. Tonight I’d like to focus on the “1-minute Scalping.”
With that, overseas time will start shortly!
Scalping tends to be thought of as having small profit targets and thus 24-hour opportunities, but that is not the case. Targeting times with relatively higher volatility can dramatically reduce the difficulty of trading.
The times I focus on are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (DST: 16:00 / Standard Time: 17:00)
・New York market open time (DST: 22:00 / Standard Time: 23:00)
Volatility remains high and opportunities arise right after US indicators/events are released. However, in the minutes immediately after the release, spreads may widen, so it is essential to wait for spreads to return to normal before entering a trade.
Please always check the US indicators and events schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities come allows you to accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, please absolutely avoid positioning immediately before US indicators/events. If the market moves against you, you could be taken to your stop loss in an instant. Carelessness is not allowed.
US indicators/events schedule can be checked on the websites of brokers and FX dealers.
Of course there are many other points beyond these three, but I’ve explained the minimum points you should grasp when scalping USD/JPY.
