In 2026, the soaring risk of Trump-related risk seems to center on the very fact that “unpredictability” has become a norm in policy. The greatest risk is shifting toward a world where the will of a specific individual takes precedence over international rules. This includes Putin, Xi Jinping, and now Trump.
President Trump's personal will disregards alliances and international institutions; past agreements are overshadowed by the president's personal judgments, emotions, and appeals to his base.
