【1/15 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Good work everyone! Alright, let's go with USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, the overview of the Tokyo session today.
Currently USD/JPY is around 158.50. The pair started today around 158.40 in the morning, but during the Tokyo session there was cautious sentiment about intervention as U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen spoke on the forex market for the second day in a row, keeping it supported and relatively firm.
Also, President Trump stated to Reuters that there is “no plan to dismiss Powell as Fed Chair,” which seems to support USD/JPY. It looks like the overseas session will take over at roughly the morning level.
For now, declines driven by verbal interventions are being bought as dips.
Now, the points for USD/JPY scalping tonight.
● Movements around the London market open (around 17:00)
● Movements after the release of the following: US Initial Jobless Claims, US Empire State Manufacturing Index, US Philadelphia Fed Business Outlook Index (around 22:30)
● Movements near the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)

Other notes…
・Be mindful of US officials’ statements
・Be aware of the highest level of yen depreciation warnings and rate-check news

Tonight’s “1-minute scalping” aims to catch moves near each market open plus the 22:30 data releases of US Initial Jobless Claims, US Empire State Manufacturing Index, and US Philadelphia Fed Index. For “1-minute scalping club” users, handling as per the theory should be fine.
Also, the “15-minute scalping” for shorts remains supported by a firm move despite intervention fears, so don’t push too hard today. I plan to focus on the “1-minute scalping” tonight.
With that, overseas trading will begin shortly!
Scalping tends to be thought of as having small profit targets with 24-hour opportunities, but that’s not the case. By targeting periods with higher volatility, you can significantly reduce trading difficulty.
The time I target is near the London market open and near the New York market open.
・London open time (UTC-4 in US daylight time / UTC-5 in US standard time)
・New York open time (UTC-4 in US daylight time / UTC-5 in US standard time)
Volatility remains high right after releases of US indicators/events, creating many chances. However, in the first few minutes after release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to enter only after returning to normal spreads.
Always check the US indicators and events schedule in advance. Knowing when chances will come allows you to accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning immediately before US indicators/events. If you go against the move, you’ll be in trouble in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely not.
US indicators/events schedules can be checked on the websites of brokerages and FX providers.
Of course there are other points as well, but I’ve covered the minimum points you should keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
