【1/12 Dollar/Yen Scalping Points】
Good work everyone! Now, let's do Dollar/Yen scalping again tonight!
First, here is today's Tokyo session overview.
Currently, dollar/yen is around 158.10. The pair started this morning around 158.00, but in the early Tokyo session it dropped about 50 pips due to reports that Powell is starting an investigation, and by just after 10:00 Japan time it fell to around 157.50.
However, if Powell clarifies that he intends to continue in his role, the dollar should rebound, and we may see a return to near the morning level as markets transition to the overseas session.
Additionally, last weekend's reports that Prime Minister Suga (Note: actually Kishida) was considering dissolution have tended to weaken the yen, bringing the danger zone for currency intervention into view. Headlines to watch here as well.
Now, the points for tonight's USD/JPY scalping.
● Movement around 17:00 London market open
● Movement around 23:00 New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
—–
● Be cautious of headlines related to yen weakness control
Tonight's “1-minute scalping” has no significant US indicators or events scheduled, so there’s no particular material for the market. The key would be movements around market opens. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” follow the theory and you should be fine.
Additionally, the “15-minute scalping” for shorts, which focuses on yen weakness due to last weekend's dissolution reports, should not push too hard today. Tonight I plan to focus on the “1-minute scalping.”
Now, we are about to begin in overseas hours!
Scalping tends to be thought of as having small profit targets and 24-hour opportunities, but that is not the case. By targeting time periods with higher volatility, you can significantly lower the difficulty of trading.
The time periods I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open times (US Daylight Time 16:00– / US Standard Time 17:00–)
・New York market open times (US Daylight Time 22:00– / US Standard Time 23:00–)
Volatility spikes right after US data/events too, offering many opportunities. However, in the minutes immediately after announcements, spreads can widen, so the rule is to enter only after they revert to normal spreads.
Always check the US indicators/events schedule in advance. Knowing when opportunities will come helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning immediately before US indicators/events. If you go against it, you’ll be wiped out in moments. Careless mistakes are unacceptable, absolutely.
The US indicators/events schedule can be checked on the websites of each securities company or FX broker.
Of course, there are many other points as well, but I’ve outlined the minimum points to keep in mind when scalping the dollar/yen.
