MMA Weekly Report Nikkei Stock Average By Raymond Merriman Jan.13 2026
1. Overview
The Nikkei Stock Average closed last week at 51,939, up 1,600 points from the previous week. The week's low was 50,995 on Monday the 5th. The week's high was 52,523 on Tuesday the 6th. Since the closing price for the week exceeded the upper resistance line, it carried over the stronger tone from the previous week, showing a bullish stance. This marks a continuation of the bullish trend. In fact, this closing price exceeded the Weekly Trend Indicator Point (TIP) in 6 out of 7 weeks. Therefore, the underlying trend remains in an “uptrend” state.
2. Cycles
In “Forecast 2026,” the long-term market cycle for the Nikkei Stock Average was changed from 17 years to 19 years. However, the starting point remains the October 28, 2008 value of 6,994. Therefore, where this 19-year cycle bottoms, or whether it has not yet bottomed, will be the focus in 2026.
