【12/23 USD/JPY Scalp Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Alright, let's go with USD/JPY scalping tonight as well!
First, here is today's Tokyo time overview.
Currently USD/JPY is around 156.05. This morning USD/JPY started around 156.95, but during Tokyo time it strengthened the yen across the board after Finance Minister Katayama said, “I don’t think recent moves in the exchange rate reflect fundamentals.”
It seems Minister Katayama’s remarks about restraining the yen are gradually taking effect. From the morning level, about 90 pips drop may hand it over to overseas time.
It feels like the good parts in Tokyo were taken away… but let's keep monitoring closely!
Now, here are the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements near the London market open around 17:00
● Movements after the release of the U.S. Q3 GDP and Durable Goods Orders at 22:30
● Movements near the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
● Movements after the U.S. Consumer Confidence Index is released at 24:00
—–
● Be cautious of headlines related to yen weakness restraint
Tonight’s “1-minute chart scalping” will focus on moves around each market open, as well as after the 22:30 GDP and Durable Goods releases, and after the 24:00 Consumer Confidence Index release. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” if you manage positions according to the theory, there’s no problem.
Also, the short-only “15-minute scalping” is becoming heavier due to Katayama’s yen-weakening restraint remarks, so it’s worth trying. The setup would be to wait for a slight pullback and be able to sell around the 156 mid-area, perhaps.
With that, overseas time is about to start!
Scalping tends to have small target margins, so it might seem there are 24-hour opportunities, but that is not the case. By targeting periods with relatively higher volatility, you can significantly lower the difficulty of trading.
The time frames I target are around the London market open and near the New York market open.
・London market open time (UTC: during US daylight time 16:00– / US standard time 17:00–)
・New York market open time (UTC: during US daylight time 22:00– / US standard time 23:00–)
Volatility and opportunities remain high immediately after U.S. indicators/events are released. However, in the few minutes right after the release, spreads may widen, so the rule is to enter only after they return to normal spreads.
Always check the U.S. indicators/events schedule in advance. Knowing the times when opportunities arise helps you accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning right before U.S. indicators/events. If you go against them, you’re in trouble. You can be wiped out in an instant. Careless mistakes are unacceptable, absolutely.
U.S. indicators/events schedules can be checked on each brokerage firm’s and FX providers’ websites.
Of course, there are many other points beyond these three, but I’ve covered the essential points you should keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
