【12/18 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Now let's do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, from today's Tokyo session overview.
Currently USD/JPY is around 155.90. This morning it started around 155.60, and during Tokyo time it showed a bit of resistance on the upside, but afterward the trend of buying USD and selling JPY continued from the previous day, keeping a solid uptrend.
From the morning level it has risen about 30 pips, and will transition to the overseas trading session. The expectation of an additional BOJ rate hike tomorrow is already priced in; will overseas players buy even more after that?
Now, the points for tonight's USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around 17:00 near the London market open
● Movements after the releases of the U.S.Initial Jobless Claims, U.S. Consumer Price Index, and U.S. Philadelphia Fed Index at 22:30
● Movements around the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
———
● Pay attention to headlines related to the U.S.-Japan policy rate
Tonight's "1-minute interval scalping" will aim for movements around market opens, plus the movements after the 22:30 releases of U.S. Initial Jobless Claims, U.S. CPI, and U.S. Philadelphia Fed Index. For users of the "1-minute scalping club," handling as per theory should be fine. Although U.S. indicators are mixed, you only need to align with price movement.
Also, the short-only "15-minute scalping" continues to be in a USD-buy/JPY-sell flow as the expectation of additional BOJ rate hike tomorrow is priced in, so don't push too hard today. Tonight I want to focus on "1-minute scalping."
Now, overseas markets will start shortly!
Because scalping targets small profit margins, it is easy to think there are 24-hour opportunities, but that's not the case. By targeting time periods with relatively high volatility, you can drastically reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time periods I target are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (UTC-4 in US summer time / UTC-5 in US winter time)
・New York market open time (UTC-4 in US summer time / UTC-5 in US winter time)
There is high volatility and many opportunities immediately after U.S. indicators/events are released. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads can widen, so the rule is to enter only after they return to normal spreads.
Please always check the U.S. indicators and events schedule in advance. By understanding the times when opportunities will come, you can efficiently accumulate profits.
Also, positioning immediately before U.S. indicators/events should be avoided at all costs. If you go against the trend, you’ll be in trouble in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable.
U.S. indicators/events schedules can be checked on each brokerage or FX broker's website.
Of course there are other points beyond the three above, but I’ve explained the minimum points you should cover when scalping USD/JPY.
