【12/17 Dollar-Yen Scalping Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Now, let's do Dollar-Yen scalping again tonight!
First, here is today's Tokyo session overview.
Currently, the USD/JPY is around 155.15. This morning it started around 154.70, but during Tokyo time it moved modestly in the direction of a stronger dollar and weaker yen.
However, ahead of tomorrow’s Bank of Japan policy meeting, it has been moving within the previous day’s range, showing a lack of aggressiveness.
From the morning level, it looks like a rise of about 45 pips to hand over to the overseas session. Last night’s “U.S. employment data” was inconclusive, with no clear direction.
Now, here are tonight’s USD/JPY scalping points.
● Movement around the 17:00 London market open
● Movement around the 23:00 New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
—–
● Watch out for remarks from U.S. officials
● Be mindful of headlines related to U.S.-Japan policy rates
Tonight’s “1-minute scalping” will not have major catalysts in the market as there are no U.S. indicators or events scheduled. The near-market movements around each market open will be the targets. For users of the “1-minute scalping club,” handling according to theory should be fine.
Also, the “15-minute scalping” for shorts is lacking aggressiveness due to expectations of additional BoJ rate hikes this weekend, so it may be worth aiming around the prior high area. The entry point would be when the price can be sold at levels above 155 yen, perhaps.
With that, overseas time will start shortly!
Scalping tends to seem like there are 24-hour chances because the potential profit per trade is small, but that is not the case. By targeting periods with higher volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The time I target is around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open times (U.S. daylight saving time 16:00– / U.S. standard time 17:00–)
・New York market open times (U.S. daylight saving time 22:00– / U.S. standard time 23:00–)
Even immediately after U.S. indicators or events are released, volatility rises and opportunities increase. However, in the first few minutes after the release, spreads can widen, so always act after they return to normal spreads.
Always check the U.S. indicators/economic calendar in advance. Knowing when opportunities come allows you to accumulate profits efficiently.
Also, absolutely avoid positioning just before U.S. indicators/events. If you move against it, you can’t even be seen. You can be taken to the stop-loss in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely.
The U.S. indicators/event schedule can be checked on each brokerage or FX provider’s website.
Of course, there are many other points besides the three above, but I’ve discussed the minimum points you should keep in mind when scalping USD/JPY.
