MMA Weekly Report Nikkei Average Stock Price By Raymond Merriman Dec.15 2025
1. Review
Last week, the Nikkei Stock Average closed at 50,836, up 345 points from the previous week. The week's low was 49,926 on the 11th (Thursday). The week's high was 51,127 on the 12th (Friday). The week's range moved between the daily support and resistance lines, so it was neutral. However, the closing price for the week exceeded the Weekly Trend Indicator Point (TIP) for three weeks in a row. Therefore, the overall trend has been upgraded from “neutral” to “an uptrend.”
2. Cycles
In Forecast 2026, published in December, the Nikkei Average’s long-term market cycle timings were slightly adjusted. There is no change to the starting point of 6,994 on October 28, 2008, but where this cycle bottoms, or whether it has not yet bottomed, will be a focus in 2026. However, there is no change to the view that the current market is formed by a four-year cycle, and the future development of long-term cycles will still be influenced by near-term PC movements (usually 12–20 weeks). Currently, the notable lows to watch are August 5, 2024 at 31,156 and April 7, 2025 at 30,792.
