【12/12 USD/JPY Scalping Points】
Thank you for your hard work! Alright, let's do USD/JPY scalping again tonight!
First, here is today's Tokyo time overview.
Currently USD/JPY is around 155.65. This morning, USD/JPY started around 155.55, but during Tokyo time the market remained in a wait-and-see mood ahead of next week's Bank of Japan Monetary Policy Meeting. It moved with no clear direction and with little volatility.
It seems it will transition to overseas time around roughly the same level as the morning.
With the US FOMC and Chair Powell’s press conference, and the worsening of yesterday's “Initial Jobless Claims”, there is likely to be a USD selling trend, so please pay attention to overseas time.
Now, the points for tonight’s USD/JPY scalping.
● Movements around the London market open
● Movements around the New York market open (Dow opens at 23:30)
—–
● Be careful of headlines related to the US-JP policy rate
Tonight’s “1-minute scalping” has no scheduled US indicators or events, so there isn’t any market-moving material in particular; the likely targets are moves around market opens. For “1-minute scalping club” users, handling as per theory should be fine.
Also, the “15-minute scalping” which focuses on short positions only, may see a USD selling trend due to the US FOMC, Powell’s press conference, and yesterday’s worsening of the “Initial Jobless Claims.” There may be opportunities. If it can be sold around the 155 mid level, we will enter.
With that, overseas time will start shortly!
Because scalping aims for small profit margins, one might think there are 24-hour opportunities, but that is not the case. By targeting times with higher volatility, you can significantly reduce the difficulty of trading.
The times I am targeting are around the London market open and around the New York market open.
・London market open time (UTC/US daylight time: 16:00– / US standard time: 17:00–)
・New York market open time (US daylight time: 22:00– / US standard time: 23:00–)
Volatility increases and opportunities rise immediately after US indicators/events are released. However, in the few minutes right after the release, the spread may widen, so the rule is to enter only after it returns to normal spread.
Always check the US indicators/events schedule in advance. By knowing when the opportunities will arise, you can efficiently accumulate profits.
Also, avoid positioning immediately before US indicators/events. If you go against it, you can’t see clearly. You can be taken to the stop-loss level in an instant. Careless mistakes are not acceptable, absolutely.
US indicators/events schedules can be checked on the websites of each securities or FX broker.
Of course there are many other points besides these three, but I’ve explained the essential points you should cover when scalping USD/JPY.
